Under normal circumstances we genuinely love hearing from our new and existing customers, but at the moment we're really struggling to personally reply to the 1000's of e-mails we're getting. Our Help Hub has been written by our amazing Customer Service team, so covers a huge range of common questions that they've had asked and answered.

Existing Customers

Our PPE+ stock is reserved for you and can be purchased with a PPE+ Pass. This stock is not available to new customers.

PPE+ Passes are reserved for existing regular Care and Nursery customers who have placed orders in 2020 (Before COVID-19).

We will not be issuing PPE+ Passes to any other type of customer for the time being. Our stocks are running dangerously low, as soon as we can lift any restrictions we will.

We are battling to get more stock in for you to order, please hold tight and a new PPE+ Pass will be sent by email as soon as we can.

Stocks of PPE and other products are at a record low in the UK and COVID-19 has created massive demand for products that would not normally be widely used in a care setting. Thankfully our long-standing relationships with manufacturers ensures continuity of supply of essential PPE items. Be sure to keep checking our website as we are adding new products every single week to help fight against Coronavirus.

We are working very hard to get PPE+ Passes out to our existing customers who need it most. You must be:

  • An existing regular customer who has placed orders in 2020 (Before COVID-19)
  • A Care or Nursing home looking after the frail and elderly
  • A Nursery looking after key worker children

In short, no. However, you can still pay for your orders by card, or by clearing some of your older invoices. Have you thought about switching to direct debit? Paying by DD means your account will always be paid on time without any bother of having to make payments. DD customers are also likely to be given a higher credit limit.

Really sorry but you will have to wait. The expiry dates are set to ensure we are sending out stock equally and to limit demand through our warehouse so we don't fall behind with orders. A new pass will be sent by email in around 1 week of your pass expiring.

We are working hard to get your PPE+ passes sent out. Please remember there are only a small number of products marked PPE+ and we will remove the flag as soon as we can.

Yes. The following items are zero rated for VAT as per the government guidance:

  • 10.1 Filtering face piece class 3 (FFP3)respirators
  • 10.2 Fluid resistant surgical masks
  • 10.3 Eye and face protection
  • 10.4 Disposable aprons and gowns
  • 10.5 Disposable gloves

Sadly, yes. There is a stark choice that we are regularly facing with our manufacturers. Either we pay a higher price or we get no stock. To be fair to our suppliers, their costs are going up massively too.

  • the price of alcohol hand gel has risen from £800 per tonne to £4000+ per tonne... if you can actually get hold of it
  • pumps for hand soaps are being flown in by air from China. It costs about £6000 to air freight 1 pallet of stock!
  • The production capacity is limited and the demand is unlimited. A glove factory takes a year to build and is &quart; km long!

When we put our prices up, it hurts our customers and we feel your pain. We have also had to pay more! However, a price rise does mean that we have managed to secure some stock. And that is the horrible stark choice in this crisis. Do you want stock or not?

Our procurement team are paying ever higher prices to get more and more stock. They are doing their best to make sure you have the products that you need. We know it is not enough, but we have not yet worked out how to turn bin bags into aprons and water into wine.

When we have sufficient stock of a product, we remove the requirement to have a PPE+ pass for that product and make it available for general sale. Please make sure you sign up for our newsletters so we can keep you updated. You can do this by creating an account or logging in and updating your settings.

New Customers

Yes, as a new customer you can register on our website and order any products not marked PPE+. We are not accepting new customers by phone, but our website is easy to use and has lots of great tools for you to try.

As part of the Department of Health & Social Care Covid-19: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Plan Gompels have been passed products from the Pandemic Flu Stocks. These products are mandated for supply to CQC registered settings operating within England. If you meet the above requirements, use our contact form below with your information and we will send a pass, with a spend limit, for you to use on marked with a 'PHE' Flag.

Our PPE+ stock is reserved for our existing care and nursery customers and can only be purchased with a PPE+ Pass.

If you can add it in your basket, then it is in stock. If there are any problems with orders that have been placed via the website, a member of the customer service team will be in touch via telephone or email. On the product pages, it does show just below the price "Out of Stock".

Delivery

Due to unprecedented demand and ensuring our staff remain safe as we process your orders, we are running a little behind. Our warehouse and couriers are working hard to ensure next day service but there may be a small delay.

We send you an email as soon as your order is on the way, so that you can find out when it will arrive.

Have you checked for any delivery cards? Your parcel may have been left somewhere safe, such as with a neighbour or been taken to a local depot.

If you do need to report your order as lost or damaged then please contact our Customer Service with the contact form below.

Sorry, we may have picked and packed the wrong item. Luckily, we video our pack stations and we should be able to rectify any issues quickly. Please contact our Customer Service with the contact form below.

Returns

If you are unhappy with a product or something is no longer required, we are more than happy to help. Please contact our Customer Service using the contact form below.

Returns are charged at £15 (+ VAT). However, we always look at this on an individual basis and won't charge you if we have made a mistake.

Once the courier has been and collected your items, we can track it back to our warehouse. If you are an existing customer, refunds will be put onto your Gompels account as a credit. If the order was paid for by card, we will refund it to the card used. Refunds can take up to 5 working days to clear.

COVID-19

The safety and wellbeing of both colleagues and customers is our absolute priority. Gompels has consistently taken early and swift actions to ensure this. This includes imposing a ban on both travel and external meetings across the entire team since January 2020.

We have also taken precautions in our offices:

  • Desks have been separated by at least 2 metres
  • Doors have been permanently opened and are contact-free
  • All staff have been provided with sanitiser, masks and tissues
  • Desk lunches are encouraged to ensure social distancing

We have a massive range of antibacterial products which have been put to good use. So far, we have 0 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and will continue to monitor the situation.

In response to COVID-19, all our carriers are taking precautionary measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of their drivers and our customers.

Please be assured that all our carriers are following the advice and guidelines from the government and that the safety of everyone is our priority.

Moving forward all carriers will operate a contact free delivery service which means that you won't be required to sign for any parcel that's delivered.

We hope that you understand and appreciate the measures that have been implemented are to protect you and ensure we can continue operate as normal.
